Difference between Light Mullite Bricks and Light Clay Bricks

Light mullite bricks and light clay bricks are both lightweight heat-resistant refractory bricks. What is the difference between mullite light bricks and clay light bricks?

First, the difference in raw material production

Light mullite bricks are made of high-purity refractory powder as refractory raw materials and sintered at high temperature after special process ratio. The aluminum content is between 50-80%.

Lightweight clay bricks are made of refractory clay after sintering at a temperature of 1000 ℃ through a certain process ratio. The aluminum content is between 30-35%.

Second, the use of temperature difference

Light mullite brick has a mullite phase, and its use temperature is about 1500 ° C; it can directly contact the flame. Has good thermal shock stability. And low thermal conductivity and low heat capacity.

Light clay bricks cannot be used as the inner lining of the flame surface directly, and are generally used in combination with aluminum silicate cotton and heavy refractory bricks. The use temperature of light clay refractory brick should not be greater than 1000 degrees.

Third, Application differences

Lightweight clay bricks are generally used for thermal insulation or permanent layers of industrial furnaces, and do not come into contact with slag or molten materials. If it comes into contact with the melt, the temperature must not be higher than 1000 ° C.

Fourth, the specific gravity is the same

Light mullite bricks and light clay bricks have the same specific gravity, both of which are 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, and 1.2.

Fifth, performance differences

From a performance point of view, light mullite bricks are more stable at high temperature and are superior to light clay bricks.

Six, Differences in indicators

From the perspective of indicators, light mullite bricks and light clay bricks with the same bulk density have higher aluminum content and higher temperature than light clay bricks, and other performance indicators are different.

Seven, the price difference

In terms of price, the price of light mullite bricks is much higher than that of light clay bricks.

In short, whether it is light mullite or light clay brick, it should be selected according to different parts and different operating temperatures.
